Well, it was an outstanding year for Perfect Proposal entries! Not
only did we have more entries than last year, but there were many
great stories from which to choose! It's never easy narrowing our
" Married" and "Engaged" categories down to five finalists. This year,
one of my staff's favorite proposal stories came from a young man who
proposed to his Oklahoma sweetheart amid great fanfare during an Ole'
Miss college football pre-game rally but, alas, he is not a legal
resident of Oklahoma, so we had to disqualify him. Something called
" Skyped" kept many of you who are separated by oceans in touch.
Thank goodness for technology! Scavenger hunts are still popular,
especially when the clues lead to a proposal, and one of our finalists
coaxed his "intended" to jump out of an airplane! Talk about TRUST!
Many of our entries were brief in the telling this year, but just
enough details were shared to know how much thought and love went into
each proposal. The Christmas blizzard of 2009 kept some proposals
from going off as planned but, good news, all of the gals said "Yes!"

Someday, I hope to publish all of my and my staff's favorite stories.
Love knows no bounds of expression. And as I say every year, just
because most of our entrants didn't make it as finalists, it doesn't
mean that their proposal stories weren't "perfect!" I hope that in
the spirit of love, you will take a moment this Valentine season to
let those around you know how much you cherish their presence, whether
it be your girlfriend, wife, fiance, children, parents or good
friends. We are all on this small planet for a short time. Read
these stories with a glad heart, and cast your vote for the one that
touches you the most.
